Locating open shields / open by ratio

Formula
C = A&B
D = Distance of section (resistive )

d = (A or B ) x D

  C

1. Isolate cable bonds at both ends of section.
2. Determine the resistive distance of the section by shorting a cable pair using a digital Ohm meter, and converting to feet.
3. Record this length as “D” measurement
4. Go to one end of the cable section and using the open mode of the test equipment , connect the tip conductor lead to the shield of the section under test.  Take the ring lead along with the ground lead of the test equipment and connect to a good earth ground . This will be measurement “A”
5. From the other end of the section under test, do the same thing as the test in #4 and make this measurement “B”.
6. By combining A & B this will give you “C”
