Information for Cable Locations

Best way to set up
a location on a twisted copper cable is the direct connect.

The red and black lead is the best
way to locate a cable.

Try to avoid placing the black lead
of your cable locator on a good ground a stake that came with the
locator will be the best connection. ( Place the black lead )

Remove the ground lead from the
cable
-
The higher the frequency the tighter
or more accuracy but the shorter the distance. from the
transmitter
-
The lower the frequency the wider or
less accuracy but the longer the distance from the transmitter.

Test the cable shield to see if it
is grounded 0 Ω - 10k Ω is best ( Place the red lead )

Locate modes on
locator’s receiver.

The Peak Mode is the most reliable
mode
-
The Null mode is easer then the peak
to use but can give Ghost readings.

The difference mode is easer then
the peak to use but can give Ghost readings.

It is simple locate with the null
Mode or the difference mode and check the location with the PEAK
mode.

All frequency will induce
into other running metal items.

Mark all items that have a single.

Set the Receiver to one strength.

Check all marks the one with the
highest tone is the one you are locating.
