Testing for A/C Voltage on the Cable Pair
- Using a digital VOM set it on A/C Voltage (a digital VOM should be used .A 2/10 difference between the tip and reading is a dig problem)
- Test the tip side to ground and record the reading.
- Test the ring side to ground and record the reading.
- If the 2 readings have 2/10 difference in A/C voltage there is a problem on the pair.
There could be a number of problems: resistant an, open one side, unbalance, etc.
- Test the Tip to Ring You should see 0 A/C volits. The presence of any A/C voltage tip to ring shows that you have a bad pair.
Contact Jake if you have any questions.
