Pair Conditioning
The Cable pair conditioning for wideband service is intended for turn up or fault location function.

Test equipment needed:
- TDR
- FED
- Multifunction test set (I use a
965 DSP) there is many on the market.
- The test requirements for the wideband service you are to Install or Repair.
- Program your Test Set Auto test limits
wide band.
- Set one auto test for each type of
service.
- Place the FED at the office end of
your Pair. ( This is a must the FED can not give a good test if it
is placed on the field end of the pair )
- Test the ground with the ground fault
function of your test set to insure a good ground at broth ends of
the cable.
- Place the Test set at the field end of
the pair.
The test requirements for each wide band service will differ from service to service.
I will post them on this web site as I find them.
Testing with out a FED will tell you if
a POTS line will work but it will not tell you anything about how a
wide band service will perform.
HDSL, HDSL2, HDSL4 Pass / fail Values
and specific test recommended provides sufficient “Single to Noise”
allowing proper xDSL operation.
